FAQ

Common questions

What data sources does Vecindr use?

Vecindr aggregates publicly available government data: Puerto Rico Police Bureau (PRPB) NIBRS crime reports, FEMA National Flood Hazard Layer, US Census Bureau ACS 5-Year estimates, Bureau of Labor Statistics LAUS employment data, and LUMA Energy / EIA power outage records. Data is updated monthly.

How is the safety score calculated?

The safety score (0–100) is a weighted composite of violent crime rate, property crime rate, and crime trend direction — normalized against the island-wide average and adjusted for population. It is not a prediction of personal safety; it reflects statistical patterns in publicly reported crime data for the municipality as a whole.

What's included in a Single Report?

A Single Report gives you a downloadable PDF for one municipality with full crime data (6-month trend, incident breakdown by type), FEMA flood zone classification, utility reliability (power outage hours), healthcare and school proximity, and a composite livability score. Access does not expire — the PDF is yours to keep.

What's the difference between a Single Report and an Annual subscription?

A Single Report ($9.99) covers one municipality with a PDF you keep forever. The Annual plan ($99/year, 7-day free trial) gives you live access to all 78 municipalities, monthly data refreshes, trend comparisons, and downloadable PDFs for all — better value if you're comparing multiple areas or relocating.

Can I cancel my subscription?

Yes. Cancel at any time from your account dashboard. You keep full access until the end of your billing period. Monthly plans have no cancellation fee. Annual plans include a 7-day free trial — cancel before the trial ends to avoid any charge.

Can I share my subscription with others?

Subscriptions are for individual use only. Each person needs their own account. Sharing login credentials is a violation of our Terms of Use and may result in account suspension.

Is my payment information secure?

All payments are processed by Stripe, which is PCI-DSS Level 1 certified. Vecindr never receives or stores your card number, CVV, or billing address — only a tokenized reference from Stripe.
